The city airport is now known as George Best Belfast City Airport after its famous footballer.
There are a number modes of transport that travellers can take from the airport to the city centre and beyond.
Taxis
Visitors can take a wheelchair friendly taxi from the airport to their destination in the city centre for just under 10.00 GBP. Travellers can find the taxis outside the main airport building.
Buses
Passengers can be dropped off at the city hall in the center by catching the number three bus. The time table for the bus is fairly frequent through out the day. Passengers are advised that a short walk to the train station. The train station is based at Sydenham which is roughly a five minute walk away from the terminal building.
Trains
The terminal building does not have a train station located inside its building. The bus shuttle to the train station at Sydenham can be caught by passengers . The train station runs a twice hourly service which passengers can then make their connections to other destinations in Eire or elsewhere in Northern Ireland.
Car
The city centre can be reached in around 10 minutes from the airport. The city by car is fairly close by at around 3 and half miles away and drivers can visit the city. Once you leave the airport join the A2 that is the Sydeham Bypass then join the A20 which will lead you and your rental car into Belfast City Centre.

If tourists to the city wish to hire a car they can collect their rental car from Belfast City Airport from a number of rental firms operating at the airport. The car rental companies offices are located inside the terminal building where customers would go to complete their paperwork. Near to the airport terminal building you can see where all the vehicles are picked up and returned to a separate office.
