Who would not want to receive a discounted airfare on their travel from one corner of the world to another? We all love discounted airfares and that is no doubt. For travelers, nothing can be a better bonus than saving up money on airfares. But what if these discounted airfare rates comes with strings attached?

Supplying discounted airfare was so much in demand that many airlines came up with different schemes. Some of these schemes did not provide any upfront advantage for the traveler, at all. Eventually, airlines went in to partnerships with online travel agents who always won the race and sold more tickets than an airline did.

“Frequent traveler” scheme is one of the ways in which airlines offered discounted airfare. Whenever a traveler purchases an airfare, they would accumulate points in their membership card. When the points reach a certain level, they are able to redeem points as a discounted airfare.

Another commonly used discounted airfare scheme used by certain airlines is to offer discounts on upfront online bookings. These schemes look promising on the outlook but can be a problem in the long run if something goes wrong. Online bookings are almost always non-refundable. Even if they are refundable, the traveler will end up losing a lot of money in the end. After all, who can predict the future! What if you made a booking in June to travel in December but you broke a leg in November? Airlines will not understand your pain!

With airlines offering nearly imperfect discounted airfare deals, many people tend to settle on consulting an online ticketing agency in order to book their flights. These agencies almost always carry an understanding with airlines and that is why they receive special discounted airfare rates for a number of flights. (The number of seats in this case can be as high as half of the flight!) being rather nice and humane in their approach, online airfare agencies provide discounted airfare rates if you were to book four or more seats in any given flight.

But be cautious as to what you are being offered! Sometimes online agencies can provide services below your level of expectation in light of providing discounted airfare. Therefore, it is always best of check out the nitty-gritty details before you give the green light to ticketing agents that you find online. If the service provider is known to you and trust worthy, then there should be little to worry about! If not, always go by your heart and listen to others who will have gone through the same experience before you!
